Set of two vintage leather dachshound footstools by Dimitri Omersa.
H 43 cm. D 76 cm. W 20 cm.
H 47 cm. D 80 cm. W 20 cm.
Fun and whimsical leather footstools by Dimitri Omersa in the shape of dachshounds. Omersa Co., England, produced several leather animals as footstools for Abercrombie and Fitch.
Great sculptural objects. Beautiful patina to leather. Wear consistent with age. One of the dogs is slightly smaller than the other, which makes them a fun pair.
History - In 1927, a leather footstool in the form of a pig was designed for retail at Liberty & Company in London. Dimitri Omersa took over the production of this model in the 1960s and began to introduce his own designs, beginning with an elephant. The turtle was part of the first collection too. The collections of leather footstools produced by Omersa and Company were retailed in the United States through Abercrombie & Fitch starting in the 1960s and continued into the 1980s.
